Poker Tools is a collective term describing a number of different types of poker software used at any time in play and designed to assist you in online poker games -  either give you instruction on what to do in a specific situation, or help you to come to a decision, or to track and give statistics on your opponents playing styles. Poker tools include odds calculators, player trackers, and automated assistants - all designed to give you an edge.

There is a line between poker tools which are legal, and cheating software which clearly is not. Poker robots fall into this latter category, and most poker rooms will have detailed lists of software which is allowed to be used. Any poker tool that you decide to use must meet the standards and allowances of the poker room at which you want to use it.

Cheating Software

Software that proposes a tool to cheat can normally fall into one of 3 categories - automated play, prediction of cards, and data mining.

Automated play - This is illegal at the online poker rooms. Automated play describes software that removes you from making decisions, it does this for you. Poker bots is the term that's normally used, describing a robotic way of playing that's based purely on statistics and mathematics. All human emotion is removed, and of course it's this which makes poker the stunning game that it is.

Predicting cards in advance - this refers to software programs which are supposed to be able to predict cards and give a probability of remaining and likely cards. They are unlikely to work but are illegal anyway.

Data mining - refers to software which collects player information during a game to be used later. Many poker rooms offer this info themselves with features that collect info on hands you've played in, but collecting this for hands where you have no interest is illegal.

Legal Software

Odds Calculators are a valuable poker tool, we've covered these in a separate dedicated section. Basically this is software which calculates the odds and outs during a game. There are a number of versions available, either paid or free. Read more on poker odds calculators.....

Trackers refers to software that operates before, during or after a game and can provide information that can be used to help with analysing  your playing decisions and improve your overall success levels.

The following sites give valuable info on poker tools guides and reviews, with advice on which versions of poker tools are the most valuable and trustworthy.....
